We're Going Carbon Neutral!

“There is no plan B because there is no planet B”

The world confronts an urgent carbon problem. If we don’t curb emissions, and temperatures continue to climb, science tells us that the results will be catastrophic. Here’s our pledge to fight climate change:

We recognize that between shipping Silicon Wear (@siliconwear) clothing via air or road, and spending hours in front of screens bringing you the latest tech updates in the best way possible, we contribute to the increase in carbon emissions.

Hence, starting this quarter, Silicon Byte will be officially emitting net-zero carbon by making up for our share of the carbon dioxide released by reducing it somewhere else instead, which will slow help to down the overall increase in carbon dioxide levels.

We will be calculating our carbon footprint at the end of every quarter and offsetting them by funding various projects (listed below) according to the number of tonnes of emissions we released in that particular quarter. We also aim to remove our historical carbon emissions by the end of 2021.

Our calculations include:

  1. Electricity and fuel consumed for business purposes

  2. Flights and Road trips taken to ship all Silicon Wear products

  3. Secondary emissions like computers and IT equipment, mobile/internet costs and more!

Some of the projects we plan to fund over the years (subject to change):

  1. Solar Project by AMCE Group in India

  2. Borehole Rehabilitation Programme in Uganda

  3. Malawi Biomass Conservation

We pledge not only to contribute to fighting climate change but also to keep our process 100% transparent in the future. We will also find ways not only to reduce our carbon emissions but to fight climate change in other ways as well. Stay tuned for more updates!
